Helping Children Cope With Disaster

We are aware that children across the country through the media witnessed the events of September 11, 2001. These and other terrifying images leave such an impression on children that parents and educators will need to help children understand this reality and help them to articulate their feelings.

The resources on the National Association of School Psychologists site (http://www.nasponline.org/index2.html) provides teachers and parents with ways to help children begin the healing process resulting from this senseless act of violence.

When you go to Coping With a National Tragedy (http://www.nasponline.org/NEAT/crisis_0911.html) you will discover links to a wealth of helpful resources in English and Spanish as well as other useful links.

Blessings as you journey with your children!
